Just had the first 2009 Alamy stock sale pop up and it goes against what a lot of people say will sell on Alamy - a flower photo. More specifically, flowers and red bud caps of the endemic Eucalyptus erythrocorys tree. For a gardening book to be sold here in Australia and NZ.

PHEW !
Just cracked over the 300 images point with Gekko Images. I should by now have 600 images up there, but it takes time to add IPTC data to nearly 1,000 images when I was too lazy to add the IPTC data in the first place. Oh my ..... Check out our range of images on Gekko here

A key task over the holiday period has been to get as much of the already existing stock portfolio up to Gekko Images here in Australia. Unfortunately, yours truly never bothered with IPTC data in the early days of stocking, so the chore of adding IPTC data to nearly 1,000 images - and adding such data to all the new images - well, you get the idea !! It'll be interesting to see how Gekko sales pan out in the months ahead as there is some conjecture on this front. At least Gekko doesn't have the upper size limit as per Alamy,w hich ultimately means more images going to Gekko.

There's been a fair amount of contention on the Alamy forums about wether flower photos actually sell, but whatever, it's Eucalyptus season here in Perth and most species are in full flower right now around the suburbs. Naturally, we're bagging as many as possible as part of the on-going (but yet to be proven) process of photographing as much endemic Australian flora as possible for the stock portfolio.
